High waters but ok visibility! The fish are here!

Good Morning and Happy Easter from NRO! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for following us and being part of the NRO family!!
Spring showers bring bright steelhead they say!

The water levels have been high! Safety is the number one priority if you go out on your own. Our guides have been diligent with where to bring our clients as the wading conditions are very dicey with the high water. The constant rain seems a bit frustrating at times right now, but in reality this could be a blessing for the trout season. We have been in a multi year drought so these nice higher water levels are key to the resident fish that live here, as well as pushing lots of nice spawners into the river system and keeping them fresh. That being said with the high water levels, I have been pleasantly surprised with the visibility remaining fairly ok! We have been getting lots of action of chartreuse eggs, mega fry, and egg sucking leaches in colors black and purple. There have been an excellent number of spawners up in the river this year! Even in these high water levels the number of fish caught and fish we are hooking into has been very high. Its been an excellent spring season for getting into the nice resident browns as well! Clients may be here for Spring Steelhead, and the action has certainly been here, but landing one of the Pere Marquette’s brown trout over 18in is always an added win for the day!
Hit us up to join into the spring action! We still have lots of availability including weekend dates! The PM Steelhead season should still be going strong for another few weeks here so get in while you can! Also don’t be afraid to get on our books early for summer trout season! I have been seeing lots of very nice residents that would love to eat some streamers and mice this summer! Summer we offer a lot of flexibility in booking options depending on what you are looking for.
As always- be safe out there- safety is the name of the game! Call to book your next trip at 616-295-8373!
