Our Fly Fishing Guides:

Northern Rivers Outfitters is the largest holder of USFS federal river permits, owning 5 Federal Permits on the Pere Marquette River for our guides to access premier fishing waters not accessible without these permits. The Pere Marquette River in Baldwin, MI and the Big Manistee River in Wellston are our ‘home rivers’ where the majority of our trips are booked currently but we also service the Muskegon River, the Pine, and the White River. NRO’s fly fishing guides have over 100 years of combined fly fishing experience to be able to teach our clients and guests a large variety of resources and knowledge to put in the anglers toolbox! With several of our staff guiding in Alaska for a portion of the year and NRO servicing numerous rivers our guides are extremely capable, knowledgeable, and informed fisherman with adept ability to provide you a stellar day out on the river! All our fishing guides are federally and state licensed and insured as well as the majority of our guides having their US Coast Guards Captains Licensing. If there is specific guide you would like to fish with please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you upon booking.

Kameron Zemites (Owner)

Captain Kameron Zemites (Owner) has been guiding for over a decade, starting in 2013. Since he started his guiding career he spends May to early September guiding in King Salmon, Alaska, and then guides on the Northern Rivers in Michigan the remainder of the year. Kam is extremely knowledgeable and delivers exceptional, patient instruction to all of his clients throughout the fishing trip. You will walk away with tons more 'tools' in your toolbox after your fishing trip with Kam. Kameron also is one of the guides for Oak Heart Lodge, a Fishing with Veterans program. He is planning to stay active with the Fishing with Veterans program while running his own outfitter. Kam is fully licensed and insured and has his US Coast Guards Captains License required for the river access he provides to clients. Kam specializes in his profound expertise for the early running Salmon and the Winter Steelhead program! You will be hooked for years after a trip with Kameron!

Leo Cook

Leo started fishing the Pere Marquette River when he was just 8 years old. He has built up a tremendous bucket of knowledge on how to target the varying Michigan species across these rivers. Leo is a renowned Trout guide, phenomenal at putting clients on fish during the summer months. Leo has built up his reputation and has become on of the most booked trout guides on the Pere Marquette River. Make sure you put fishing the Hex hatch and a night mousing trip with Leo on your bucket list!! Leo is also fully licensed and insured, and has his inland Pilot license.

Rod Baker

Rod has over 35 years of guiding experience!
Rod was raised in a small, rural community enjoying fishing and hunting. Growing up, he spent many days in, on, or around the water- so it was only natural for him to pursue a career as an adult guiding. "I’ve fished the White, Muskegon, and Manistee Rivers, but the Pere Marquette River is my favorite. Being a resident of Baldwin Michigan, and living near the Pere Marquette, has afforded me the opportunity to fish this wonderful river extensively and I invite you to come and do the same." I learned how to first fish for blue gill and slowly started learning how to fish for other types. As I started learning how to fish more kinds of fish, I found my true love for salmon, steelhead and Coho. I love chasing them in many different rivers. I have been fishing for salmon for over 19 years and have taught a lot of people how to fish for these amazing fish! What I love most is seeing people smile as they get their first salmon or their 100th salmon! Fully licensed/Insured/with a US Inland Pilots License.

Andy Eberhard

After 30 years of traveling north to fish many northern Michigan rivers, Andy has found himself living in Baldwin near the world famous Pere Marquette River. His love for the river and passion for fishing are only surpassed by his desire to give his guests a great experience. Andy is a legendary King Salmon and Steelhead Salmon guide on the Pere Marquette! Fully licensed/Insured/with a US Inland Pilots License.

Captain Red Beard

Captain Red Beard, Josh VandenBerg is the owner of his own outfitter, Red Beard Guide Service. Josh is the owners brother and will occasionally run trips for NRO- specializing on both the Big Manistee River and the Muskegon River. Captain Red Beard, like Kam, will spend his summer months up in AK guiding and then comes home for the renowned Michigan Salmon run. Josh's fishing abilities are unparallel. You are in great hands with Captain Red Beard. Fully licensed, insured, and is a certified USCG licensed Captain.
